Our Story
There’s a reason “They” say moving is one of life’s biggest stresses! After 27 years in our home in beautiful San Clemente, we found ourselves in the same situation, downsizing to boot!
After many years of working in the restaurant industry and then 13 years of outside sales work in said industry…burnout had set in. Along came covid in 2021, and it made it official, and it was time for a big change. After what I called a 4-month death march of hard work to ready the home for sale, our home sold & it was time to move on.
We had collected so much “STUFF” and had to start the painstaking process of elimination to lighten the load!! As we started going through every drawer, closet, garage, room and the yard….it was truly overwhelming! We first called out for our trash company’s free large item pick up service but still needed to order a small dumpster that filled up in about an hour! The debris and junk just kept coming so next we called a junk company with more muscle and capacity to get rid of the XL size junk & donations we started to remove. The task was to ultimately fit everything into one 20’ storage POD to set aside and buy time after close of escrow to find a new smaller place to call home. Doing all of these things planted the seed for Gold Coast Moving & Hauling! We mainly started with Junk hauling, but the odd moving job request would come through friends or family members, and now it has grown into the mainstay of our business model, although we still always love to haul some Junk!
About Gold Coast
At Gold Coast Movers, we like to say we are a one-stop shop of sorts. Every move usually has excess furnishings, home goods, exercise equipment, books, electronics, sporting goods etc. This is where we started bringing everything for donation to Mercy Warehouse in Laguna Niguel. This became our Charity of choice where whatever we bring they sell in the thrift warehouse and it helps feed those in our community who are dealing with hard times! Then there’s all of the excess hazmat materials every home collects like chemicals, cleaners, paints, automotive oils, coolant, old electronics etc that needs to be recycled responsibly. All this before the main move is done and it seems like it never ends. Many folks end up calling separate companies to do it all or try selling and or giving away these items before the looming deadline of move day comes a calling, and it just all has to be gone! STRESSFUL doesn’t really describe the feeling, but that’s what we’re here for!
The Family
We are Local and family-owned, now living in beautiful Dana Point! My son, Christian, who graduated and played football at Dana Hills as a top State football & Rugby player, is my right-hand man and co-owner of the business along with my beautiful wife Stephanie! Christian has also supplied a steady flow of local muscle from the friends and players we’ve been able to employ as our business has steadily grown since it was established in 2022. Our crew is top-notch professionals who take pride in the job we do. At Gold Coast Movers, we treat it like a full-contact sport! We will always bring a positive attitude and a professional, trustworthy work ethic to every job we do!
